Funeral services for Jackie Mickelson, age 62, of Foreston, will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11 AM at Milaca Alliance Church with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Music will be provided by Karen Krueger and Julie Anderson. Casketbearers will include Darrell Herges, Pat Faust, Russ Kallem, Russ Vogt, Jeff Ohman and Jeremy Ohman.
Jackie Mickeslon was born February 3, 1948 in Milaca, MN to Neil and Ramona (Jacobson) Smith. She attended Milaca High School, graduating in 1966. She married James Mickelson on June 28, 1968 and to this marriage three children were born, Andrea, Tim, and Tony. The couple lived in Minneapolis for a year before moving back to the Milaca area. Since 1976, they have made their home in Foreston, MN. Jackie worked as a waitress at the Hi-Way Cafe and M.J.’s Restaurant for many years before she retired in 1995. Her main loves were her five grandchildren. She loved bragging about them and taking them to the cabin to fish and put puzzles together. She enjoyed knitting, taking care of her flower garden, and going to Arizona in the winter. She liked taking a cruise with her very special friends in her classic convertible. She also enjoyed going to the casino. Jackie especially enjoyed Christmas with her family and friends. She died on Friday, December 24, 2010 at her home in Foreston.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Andrea (Mike) Kreifels of Milaca; sons, Timothy (Mary) Mickelson of Milaca and Anthony Mickelson and Courtney Robbins of Milaca; five grandchildren, Ashlyn Kreifels, Alexis Kreifels, Noah Kreifels, Bradley Hatch, and Tera Mickelson; sister, Joni (Jim) Benedict of Foreston; brother, James (Linda) Smith of Appelton, WI; brother-in-law, Butch (Rhonda) Broberg of Robbinsdale, MN; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jean.
