Memorial services for Amon Ra Anderson, age 84, of Milaca, will be held on Thursday, January 27 at 1 PM at Milaca United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Woo Jae Im officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Amon Ra Anderson was born March 22, 1926 in Hayland Township to A. Henry “Hank” and Anstis (Hubbard) Anderson. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1944. Ra was a dairy farmer until 1990 and then he raised beef cattle. Ra was united in marriage to Betty Lou Wilken on December 22, 1956. Ra was a 4-H leader, Farmers Union member, served on the Mille Lacs County Soil and Water Board and the State Soil and Water Board. Ra liked to fish and hunt. He also liked to weld and make his own machinery. Ra died on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Mille Lacs Nursing Home in Onamia.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Karrie Anderson, Aaron (Vicki) Anderson and Kala (Chris) Kolkind; grandchildren, Alan Juell, Steven Juell, Adam Anderson (Lindsey), Evan Anderson (Serena), Jesse (Kelley) Juell and Hali Kolkind; great-grandson, Johnathon Anderson; sisters, Allyne Jane McAllister and Mary Lou Maudsley; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bette Ann Ripke and brothers, Phillip Anderson and Aemer Anderson.
