Helen Marie Bolling was born on August 13, 1926 to John and Ellen (Dahlgren) Payonk in Strandburg, South Dakota. She attended school near her home where she enjoyed singing and entering into many state competitions with her beautiful alto voice. As a young woman, she moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Honeywell. She was united in marriage to William Buth and resided in Minnneapolis. After William preceded her in death in 1963, Helen worked at Fairview Hospital in the housekeeping department. Helen was united in marriage to Walter Bolling on June 8, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. The couple moved to a farm near Milaca, where she helped with milking and the chores. She later worked in the office of the Day Fish Company. Helen loved cooking for her family and having everyone for a Swedish Christmas Eve. Walter and Helen enjoyed traveling together and especially enjoyed trips to Sweden and Norway. Helen has resided at the Elim Home in Milaca where she passed away on Sunday, February 20th at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 7 days.
She is survived by husband, Walter also at the Elim Home in Milaca, daughter Vicki (Philip) Thompson of Milaca, son, Ronald (Dolly) Buth of Strandburg, South Dakota, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Jeanette Melin of Mesa, AZ and Connie DeRemer of Minneapolis, MN and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, William, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
