Nick Dean Olson

Funeral services for Nick Olson, age 37, of Milaca, will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at 1 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Monday and 1 hour prior to the service, both at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home. Nicholas Dean Olson was born May 24, 1973 to Rick and Cheryl Olson in Coon Rapids, MN. He grew up in Pengilly, MN and attended Greenway High School. In high school, Nick enjoyed playing sports, especially hockey. He moved to Milaca and worked at Knott Company for several years in Princeton. He married Peggy Olson on October 28, 2005. Nick was a great brother and son and had many friends. Nick was always very proud of his son’s achievements. Pete Edwards was a great friend of Nick’s and loved to hang out together and get into trouble. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, playing cribbage, playing pool and the Vikings. He loved going up north with his family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren and hoteling. He passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Carlbom Olson who was his everything; children, Dylan Quaintance, Angela (Jesse) Leal, Keshia (Ryan Eakman) Helmbrecht, Latasha (Madison Siebert) Helmbrecht, Martan Helmbrecht; grandchildren, Leanna, Devin, Dominic, Lillia and Aleah; mother, Cheryl Olson and stepfather, George Cartwright; sister, Valerie (Dennis) Rahm; step-sisters, Lisa (Pablo) Torres and Theresa Burke; nieces and nephews, Brendon Warren, Dennis Rahm, Jay Rahm, Bridget Rahm, Nathan Rahm, Laura Rahm,Lindsay Burstrom, Dyami Torres and Rachel Burke; also by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Rick and grandmother, Doris Higgins.
