Funeral services for Helen Wallskog, age 91, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Pastor David Smit officiating. Interment will follow at the Pease Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Friday at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Casketbearers will include Troy Wallskog, Tony Scofield, Jim Brickey, Randy Scofield, Harlan Scofield, John Fischer and Jeremiah Scofield. Honorary casketbearers are Don Scofield, Mike Wallskog and Nate Sather.
Helen Wallskog was born January 20, 1920 in Winton, MN. She grew up near Pease and attended country school. She married Carl “Elmer” Wallskog on November 25, 1939 in St. Paul, MN. The couple farmed in the Pease area most of their married life. In 1997, Helen was preceded in death by Elmer and in 2000, she moved to Milaca. Helen enjoyed crafts and making ceramics, crocheting, cooking, gardening and traveling. She died on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Milaca Elim Home.
She is survived by her children, Merle and wife Kerry of Milaca, Marjorie Brickey of Superior, WI, Melvin and wife Fern of Foreston, Marlene and husband Joe Copa of Little Falls and Marlin of Milaca; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pearl and Dorothy Koppendrayer both of Princeton; brothers-in-law, Laurence Kiel of Milaca and Carl Bengston of Ogilvie; also by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; grandsons, Don Scofield and Nate Sather and many brothers and sisters.
