Funeral services for Frances Van’t Hof, age 86, of Milaca, will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Rev. David Smit and Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Interment will follow at the Pease Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday both at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Music will be provided by Dorothy Brink and Shirley Geurkink. Casketbearers will include Justin Ekstrom, Kelly Van’t Hof, Casey Van’t Hof, Kowdey Van’t Hof, James Voss and Brian Van’t Hof. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca.
Frances Gertrude Van’t Hof was born July 18, 1924 in Steen, MN to Everett and Alice (Kramer) Ahlers. She was raised in southern Minnesota, and grew up on a small farm where she would help her parents with the farm chores. She loved to help people when they were in need. On July 13, 1949 she married Cornie Van’t Hof at the Christian Reformed Church in Leota, MN. They lived in Edgerton, MN until 1964 when they moved to Milaca, MN, where Frances helped on the farm and enjoyed raising their children. She loved to cook and bake all kinds of goodies, when anyone came around she would welcome them with open arms and make sure there was room at the table and enough food for everyone, no one was ever turned away. She was a longtime member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. She died on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Milaca Elim Home.
Frances is survived by children, Carol (Steven) Voss of Worthington, Calvin (friend Sharon) of Caldwell, ID, Kenneth of Sacramento, CA, Ivan (friend Lillian) of Ogilvie, Rodney (Brenda) of Milaca, Rosella (Shell) Pieper of North Branch, Ronald of Milaca and Norman (Deb) of Milaca; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annetta Wiekamp of Clear Lake, SD and Arlene Hunsberger of Michigan; brother, Bill Ahlers of Duluth, MN; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cornie; sons, Charlie and Alvin and 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
