Funeral services for Gladys Greene, age, 68, of Milaca, will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church with Pastor David Smit and Rev. Art Stienstra officiating. Interment will follow at the Borgholm Cemetery near Bock. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Sunday and 1 hour prior to the service both at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Music will be provided by Shirley Geurkink, Jonathon Edwards, and Pam Ruis. Casketbearers will include Doug Johnson, Dave Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Dan Johnson, Bob Geurkink and Bob Hastings. Donations may be directed to the Memorial Fund at the Pease Christian Reformed Church.
Gladys Ann Greene was born August 31, 1942 in Aitkin, Minnesota. She married the late Robert Timmer in 1959; they had 3 children. Gladys married Roger Greene on July 11, 1970. They lived in the Minneapolis area for 30 years where Gladys worked as a beautician at McCready’s in New Brighton.
Roger and Gladys enjoyed 18 winters near Yuma, Arizona in their 5th wheel, joined by family and friends. Gladys was an artist and shared painting with her church, family, and friends. Gladys and Roger willingly gave their time and love to care for her parents, Dorothy and Melvin Millam, who reside at the Milaca Park apartments. Gladys lived every hour of her life helping others in any way she could. She was serving the Lord as a deacon at the time of her death at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease where she has been a devoted member for 50 years.
Gladys passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with her family at her side. She passed away from a tragic fall in her home on April 25, 2011.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Greene of Milaca, parents, Dorothy and Melvin Millam of Milaca, son, Michael (Lisa) Timmer of MD, daughter, Gayle (Dave) Grabowski of Stanchfield, MN, grandchildren, Bryant (Jen) Sears, IN, Nichole (Levi) Bennett, MD, Amanda Timmer, NC, and Daniel Timmer, MD, great-grandchildren, Sydney and Adalyn Sears, Braxton Timmer, sisters, Nina McDermott of WI, Carol (Richard) Knauel of WI, brothers, Jim (Renee) Millam of CA and Jonathon Edwards of MA., many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Bobenmoyer and daughter, Gina.
