Funeral services for Ed Johnson, age 65, of Milaca, will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Interment will follow at Borgholm Cemetery near Bock. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Casketbearers will include John Katke, Randy Katke, Ernie Johnson, Karl Johnson, Jamie Julson and David Lindstrom. Honorary casketbearers will include Ron Katke, Jerry Fisher, Floyd Carlson and Brian Lindstrom. Music will be provided by Nancy Boecher, Dan Edgren and Julie Edgren.
Ed Johnson was born March 17, 1946 in Milaca, MN to Raymond and Mildred (Samson) Johnson. He graduated from Milaca High School in 1964. Ed worked many construction jobs and was an independent contractor. He eventually started Ed Johnson Construction and Certified Septic Systems. He retired from construction in 2008. Ed is the former Mayor of Bock and served on the Bock City Council. He was very proud of the cabin that he built with his sons in Canada. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, poker, shooting pool and meeting his buddies in Bock for coffee. He died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Patrick (Elaine) Johnson of Bock, Shawn Johnson of Milaca, Shelly (Steve) Spiczka of Waite Park, Jeremiah (Kellee) Johnson of Milaca; step-children, Tiffany Julson of Frederic, WI, Jamie Julson of Milaca and Sarah Julson of Foreston; grandchildren, Jessa Johnson, Jenna Johnson, Brady Johnson, Danielle Spiczka, Aaron Spiczka, Kylee Johnson and Cru Johnson; mother of his children, Sylvia Johnson; sisters, Betty (Ray) Edgren of Foreston and Delores (Jerry) Lindstrom of Shakopee; brother, Bob (Ann) Johnson of Milaca; brother-in-law, Ron Katke of Milaca; his dog, Belle; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion Katke and grandson, baby Oscar.
