Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Weaver, age 89, of Foley, formerly of Milaca, will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, O.S.C. officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Casketbearers will include Mike Thommes, Chris Thommes, Joe Grau, Eric Domagall, Gary Goll and Max Thommes. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Helen M. Weaver was born July 28, 1921 in Page Township, Mille Lacs County to Joseph and Mary (Simek) Krol. She attended a rural school and graduated from Milaca High School and attended Minneapolis Business College. Helen then worked at an insurance company in St. Paul, MN. She was united in marriage to Leland Weaver on October 18, 1942 at Fort Bragg, NC. Helen returned to Milaca and worked for Foster and Burry and Ryan and Paulson law firms. She later worked for the Farmers Home Administration of the U.S.D.A. for twenty-nine years. Helen was very active in community organizations including the American Cancer Society, the park commission, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Crosier Apostolate. She was a charter member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served on St. Mary’s Guild, was flower chairman and a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed cross country skiing and gardening. She died on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Foley Nursing Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Thommes of St. Paul; grandchildren, Michael Thommes, Christopher (Judy) Thommes, Catherine (Cory) Werlinger, Teresa (Joe) Grau and Anne (Eric) Domagall; great-grandchildren, Max, Joe, Zach, Logan, Lily, David and Jacob; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland in 2000; son-in-law, Allan Thommes; brothers, John, Joseph and Frank and sisters, Annabelle and Marie.
