Funeral services for Louise Dahl, age 104, of Princeton, formerly of Milaca, will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Milaca United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Woo Jae Im officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Music will be provided by Kyeongmee Im and Ann Johnson. Casketbearers will include Brian Dahl, Darwin Dahl II, Ryan Dahl, Jim Lindell, Steve Carlson and Steve Holbrook. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Louise Thomas Dahl was born December 6, 1906 in Hiteman, Iowa to Arthur and Elizabeth Ann (Price) Thomas. As a child, she moved with her family to Melcher, Iowa and a few years later they moved to rural Milaca, settling on a farm in Hayland Township. Louise attended Milaca High School, finishing her schooling with the class of 1925. She was a member of the Milaca United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, served as president of the U.M.W., chairperson for Mary Martha Cirlce and Recording Secretary for the Fellowship Group for many years. She loved music and sang in the church choir for many years. Louise was a member of the Rebekka Lodge, serving as noble grand and recording secretary. Louise enjoyed cooking and baking, especially rice pudding and rye bread. She loved her grandchildren dearly and baked many sweet buns and caramel rolls for them when they visited Grandma “Weise”. Louise worked in the Fairway Store, Olson Brothers and later at Milaca Super Valu before retiring. She passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Princeton Elim Home.
She is survived by children, Tom (Shirley) Dahl of Sartell, Darrell (Pat) Dahl of Annandale and DeeDee Strombeck of Sun City, AZ; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Darwin Dahl; grandson, Todd Dahl; brother, William Thomas and twin sister, Lucille Gennow.
