Anna Skaidrite Bruggeman

Funeral services for Anna Bruggeman, age 63, of Milaca, will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Foreston. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Anna Skaidrite Bruggeman was born May 2, 1948 in a camp in Germany to Wilhelm and Milda (Rublis) Ansmits. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Iowa and they later settled on a farm near Foreston, MN. Anna graduated from Milaca High School. After graduating, she moved to San Francisco, CA where she worked as a purchasing agent for a bank. Anna moved back to Milaca in 1987 and she was united in marriage to Dennis Bruggeman in June 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. Anna was very active in the plays and productions put on by Creative Ink. She was extremely proud of her family history and heritage and enjoyed meeting family members still living in Europe. Anna was a member of the Milaca Legion Auxiliary and the Milaca Alumni Band. She died on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. She is survived by her sister, Arija Mikelsons of Olympia, WA; brothers-in-law, James Krake of South Dakota and Jerry (Carla) Bruggeman of Milaca; a cousin and family still living in Latvia; also by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis in 2005; sisters, Zigrida Krake and Inta Ansmits and brother, Karlis Ansmits.
