A homegoing celebration for Shirley Liend, age 82, of Milaca, will be at Milaca Assembly of God Church in Milaca on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 11 AM. Shirley went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2011. She says, “ I have been so homesick for heaven, to be with my two “Rocks”; my precious Lord Jesus and my Rocky who was so forgiving like my Lord Jesus. Thank you to all who have been so loving, helpful, and kind to me and my family over the years. May the Lord bless you!
Shirley Marcella Liend, was born April 25, 1929, to Herman and Cecelia (Bucholtz) Koehn, in Oshkosh, WI. She married Rocky in 1950 in Iowa. Rocky served in the U.S. Navy so they lived in Florida until they moved to St. Paul, MN. They had two sons, Larry and Terry. At one point they owned a bar, but God changed their lives when they were born again in 1976. Shirley attended Central Indian Bible College in Mobridge, SD. They became honorary home missionaries to Standing Rock Indian Reservation, in SD. In the late ‘80’s, they purchased land near Milaca, then moved to a home on Mille Lacs Lake. She moved to Onamia, after Rocky’s death in 1997, then back to Milaca.
She is survived by her sons: Larry of Forest Lake, MN and Terry of Eagan, MN; grandchildren: Bryan of Forest Lake, MN, Shannon (Nick) Iverson of Hephzibah, GA, Becky (Juan) Kemp of Cypress, TX, Kristen and Jacob of Eagan, MN; great grandchildren: Anders, Lilian, and Foster Iverson; sisters: Jeri Ellis of Oshkosh, WI, Vivian (Gene) Jordan of Oshkosh, WI, Pat (Ed) Sorteberg of East Bethel, MN, Phyllis (Don) Brezgel of Franklin, WI; brother: Charles (Dee) Koehn of Markesan, WI; also many other relatives and friends.
Memorials are preferred to Pilot Outreach and Milaca Assembly of God.
