Memorial services for Lois Timmer, age 87, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Pastor David Smit officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at the Pease Cemetery. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Lois Irene Timmer was born July 22, 1924 in Chicago, IL to William and Rena (DeBoer) Kooiman. As a young girl, she moved with her family to a farm in the Bogus Brook area. She was united in marriage to Wallace Timmer on December 29, 1942 in Midland, TX. After Wallace completed his service in the U.S. Army, they moved to a farm near Pease, MN where they raised their family. After retirement, Lois and Wallace moved to Mille Lacs Lake and in 2000, they moved back to Milaca.
They also wintered in Texas for many years in their retirement. From October 2007 to October 2011, Lois resided at Country Meadows in Milaca and then moved to Milaca Elim Home. Lois loved shopping, golfing, playing cards, playing the organ, taking fishing trips and raising bright beautiful flowers. She enjoyed entertaining and hosting people. Lois also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She died on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Milaca Elim Home.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Kent) Malcolm of Pease, Bill (Bonnie) Timmer of Becker and Wendell (Carla) Timmer of Sauk Rapids; 10 grandchildren;
15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Jerome) Hanenburg of Milaca, Donna (Robert) Hastings of Milaca and Beverly McLain of Cerritos, CA; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace in 2009 and sister, Adeline McDermott.
