John Sylvester Bergmann was born March 19, 1948 in Princeton, MN to Gilbert and Gudrun (Brynman) Bergmann. John graduated from Princeton High School in 1966. After graduating, he entered the US Army and served in Vietnam and Germany from 1966 to 1969. John worked in construction and as a repairman, he was a “jack of all trades, master of many.” He enjoyed motorcycles a great deal and took many “scoot” trips. He will be remembered for his blunt honesty and by the many friends and family members who looked to him for advice and sought and enjoyed his charismatic persona. John died on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at his home near Onamia. He is survived by his sons, John II of Princeton and Curtis of Bock; step-son, Darin Anderson of Onamia; mother, Gudrun Bergmann of Coon Rapids; siblings, Michael (Lori) Bergmann of Milaca, Gregory (Colleen) Bergmann of Princeton, Gerhard (Mary) Bergmann of Milaca, Gloria (Randy) Palmer of Grove City, and Julie Nelson of Andover; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert and niece, Anna Bergmann.
