Christine Josephine Martin

Mass of Christian Burial for Christine Martin, age 83, of Milaca, will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Casketbearers will include Jason Baune, Curt Shaffer, Travis Rajkowski, Nick Williams, Dane Rajkowski and Brett Shaffer. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Christine Josephine Martin was born July 22, 1928 to L.A. and Emma (Straka) Zdansky in Corpus Christi, TX. She grew up on a cotton farm and she picked cotton by hand with her siblings. Her parents also raised pigs and owned a dance hall where she gave dance lessons. She married Lloyd Martin on August 22, 1951 in Corpus Christi, TX. The couple moved to Minnesota where they raised their two daughters, Donna and Debbie. Christine worked at the Milaca Laundry for many years. She later worked as a home health caregiver in Big Lake and later in Milaca for several years. She died on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Milaca Elim Home. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Allen) Rajkowski of Onamia; grandchildren, Nicolle (Gary) Newman, Jason Baune (Tina Cain), Curtis Shaffer, Brett Shaffer (Beverly Seline),Travis Rajkowski (Jess Barzdis), Alletha (James) Carlson, Dane Rajkowski, Danielle Rajkowski and Damian Rajkowski; great-grandchildren, Reyna, Tryniti, Leland, Huntter, Chelynne and Sylar; sisters, Adela and Mary; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 1977; daughter, Debbie Shaffer; two sisters and one brother.
