A memorial service for Alvin R. Eggert, 92, of Foreston will be Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 from 1-3 p.m. at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca in celebration of his life.
Alvin died Jan. 22 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 14, 1919. He was raised and lived in the Milaca/Foreston area for all of his 92 years.
He was married to Dorothy Stanchfield on Aug. 18, 1940 and they resided on a farm east of Foreston where they raised their boys. He was also the owner of the gas station located in Oak Park, Minn. until a fire destroyed it. He then moved to Ann Lake in Ogilvie where he enjoyed fishing and just being on the lake. In 1988 he sold the place on the lake and moved to Pillager in a new home he built next to his son Dwight’s residence. Also in July 1988 his wife Dorothy passed away.
On Aug. 26, 1989, Alvin married Irene Warolin and they resided in the City of Milaca for many years. He then built a new home in the country west of Foreston where he remained until his death.
Alvin was known for his excellent ability to fix and renovate farm tractors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being busy outside with yard work and was an excellent gardener. He will be greatly missed by many but most of all his family who will be lost without his 92 years of love, support and wisdom.
He is survived by his sons, Curt (Debbie) of Brainerd, Dwight (Judy) of Motley, Dennis (Dian) of Crosby and Roger (Chris) of Isle; brother Arnie (Unita); step-children, Judy Wolfe, Marie (Zank) Warolin, Sherry Nelson, Kathleen (Don) Adamek, Rex (Audrey) Warolin and Nancy (Bill) Smith; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
