Funeral services for Maynard D. Swanson, age 83, of Oak Park, will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Milaca Christian Missionary Alliance Church with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 at the church and also one hour prior to services at the church. Casketbearers will include his grandsons, Matthew Swanson, Zachary Gahm, Jason Swanson, Noah Gahm, Ben Gahm, and Jonah Gahm. Honorary casketbearers will include Corey Swanson, Ryan Swanson, Robert Jacobson, Ian Jacobson, Maxwell Campeau, and Jackson Campeau.
Maynard Dwayne Swanson was born May 02, 1928 to Henrick Gottfried and Selma (Benson) Swanson in Oak Park, Minnesota. He was the eighth child in a family of eight children. Maynard lived on the family farm his entire life. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Lucille Jane (Swanson). They raised seven children on the same family farm in Oak Park, Minnesota.
Maynard worked at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka for thirty plus years while also farming. He loved to garden, fish on family vacations, visit with relatives, spend time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and go to Hardee’s for breakfast.
About one week ago, Maynard became ill and after a long week he passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 surrounded by his family at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton while being lovingly cared for by his nurses.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 57 years, Lucille Swanson, seven children, Richard (Jenine) Swanson of Foley, MN, Laurie (Chuck) Gahm of Milaca, MN, Robert (Lynette) of Milaca, MN, Rodney (Bridget Knutson) of Saint Cloud, MN, Russell (Kelly) Swanson of Milaca, MN, Lynnelle (Mathew) Campeau of Rochester, MN, and Lisa (Robert) Jacobson of Waunakee, WI; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Harriet (Don) Dahlstrom of Oak Park, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marion Swanson, Bernice (Lester) Johnson, Eunice (Harry) Hansen, Viola (Walter) Stoeckel, and brothers, Bertil (Ella) Swanson, and Paul Manly (Florence) Swanson.
