Elizabeth Longley Lines

A celebration of life for Elizabeth "Be" Longley Lines, age 81, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 245 Central Avenue South, Milaca, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Milaca Scholarship Fund, Zion Lutheran Church, and Milaca Food Shelf. She passed away peacefully in her home on February 13, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. Be was born on July 19, 1930 in Little Falls, MN. She was a strong, career-minded woman described by friends as generous and fair with a passion for care-giving. Be attended nursing school at the University of Minnesota where she met her husband, William “Bill” Lines. They moved to Milaca in 1953 and were married for 58 years. Be had a life-long career in nursing and earned her Masters in Professional Healthcare Education at St. Cloud State University. Her most notable accomplishments included: first Director of Nursing Milaca Area Hospital, 20 year orthopedics & neurology nursing instructor St. Cloud School of Nursing, and Director of Nursing Milaca Elim Home. Be is survived by her four children; Kevin (Mindy) Lines of North Branch, Kristi (Douglas) McNamara of Minnetonka, Todd Lines of Deephaven, and Beth (Rick) Crook of Milaca; seven grandchildren, Willy (Julia), Kelly (Tyler), Alison, Robert, Cody, Connor, Spencer, and one great grandson, Tate William; brother and sister-in-law John and Kay Longley; brother-in-law Don Mead; beloved companion Nickel, and many friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by husband Bill, sister Nancy Longley Mead, and great granddaughter Britta Grace Johnson.
