Robert Vedders was born on January 30, 1938, to Josie and William Vedders in Pease, MN. Bob attended Pease Christian School through 8th grade and graduated from Milaca High School in l956. He served in the U.S. Army in Fort Benning, GA. On June 10, l961, Bob married Lola Nelson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. They made their home in Bayport while he worked at the Stillwater State Prison. Two years later he began his career in sales, first in the insurance business and then in the lighting industry.
Bob sold bulbs for Westinghouse for five years prior to starting his own business. He serviced and sold lighting products in the metropolitan area and throughout the Upper Midwest. He was most proud of training employees and helping them transition into successful careers. Bob retired in 2004, and he and Lola moved from Minnetonka to Milaca. There he was able to spend more time with friends and family whom he cherished, especially his grandchildren. His greatest gift was accepting and loving others unconditionally. Bob passed away on February 25, 2012, from cardiac disease, an illness he lived with for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Lola; son Bill (Lori) of Kenai, AK; daughter Pam Muus (Jeff) of Minnetonka; grandchildren Whitney Roe, Sonja, Gretchen, and Erik Muus; brother Verlin Vedders (Donna) of Cambridge; sister-in-law Dona Schreur of Safford, AZ; nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Josie and his brother Alfred John.
The family especially thanks the care Bob received at the Centra Care medical facilities in St. Cloud, especially Dr. Wesley Lindquist.
