Mass of Christian Burial for Richard “Dick” Winter, age 77, of Princeton, will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 12 Noon at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery near Beaulieu, MN. Casketbearers will include Robin Winter, Timothy Winter, Jay Wiedewitsch, Josh Wiedewitsch, Joel Marudas and Nick Hathaway. Music will be provided by Kristina Loegering and the St. Mary’s Church Choir.
Richard Henry Winter was born August 23, 1934 in Mahnomen, MN to William and Helena (Laubach) Winter. He was raised on a farm near Mahnomen and graduated from Waubun High School. He married Jan Schafbuch in April 1957. Richard lived in Minneapolis, Mahnomen, Spring Lake Park and finally moved to the Princeton/Milaca area. He married Lois (Roberts) Wiedewitsch in October 1979. Dick worked as a truck driver, bus driver and farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. He died on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Doreen Fitzsimmons (Larry Ankeny), Tim Winter, Robin Winter and LeAnn Ressa; step-children, Dave (Terry) Wiedewitsch, Gini (Virgil) Hathaway, Dan (Colleen) Wiedewitsch, Val Wiedewitsch, Vicki Wiedewitsch and Duane Wiedewitsch; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen Lusian, Elmer Winter, Rose Dorff and Joseph (Kathy) Winter; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jan; son, Darrell; sisters, Irene, Dorothea and Verena and brothers, Edward and Leo.
