Delores Larsen

Funeral service for Delores Larsen, age 82, of Milaca, will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Rev. David Smit officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Casketbearers will include Keith Crep, Timothy Cavallin, James Cavallin, Jay Anderson, Mike VanderPlaats and Sam VanderPlaats. Honorary casketbearers will include Kevin Carlstrom, Derick Larsen, Jared Vedders and Jason Vedders. Music will be provided by Dorothy Brink and Debbie Vedders. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Delores Larsen was born December 20, 1929 to Jacob and Suzanne (Eerdmans) DeBoer in Chicago, IL. As a young girl she moved to Pease. She was united in marriage to Hans L. Larsen, Jr. on May 27, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. The couple was blessed with five children, Ron, Bonnie, Pat, Laurie and Doug. They made their home in the Riverside area before moving to a farm in Borgholm Township. In 1968, they moved to a farm in Hayland Township. Delores worked as a waitress and hostess at restaurants in the area and she also sold Aloe Vera products. In 1987, they sold the farm and moved to Milaca. In 1991, Delores moved to the Milaca Park Apartments in Milaca and in 2009 she moved to Country Meadows Assisted Living in Milaca. She enjoyed playing cards and games, fishing, embroidering dishtowels crocheting afghans, and playing the organ. She died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. She is survived by her children, Ron Larsen of Barnes, WI, Bonnie (Gordon) Anderson of Two Harbors, MN, Pat (Dusty) Vedders of Milaca, and Doug (Denae) Larsen of Princeton; grandchildren, Christine (Keith) Crep, Stacy (James) Cavallin, Sara (Tim) Cavallin, Stacey (Mike) Foster, Jay (Lisa) Anderson, Mike (Beth) VanderPlaats, Sam (Jennifer) VanderPlaats, Kevin Carlstrom, Derick Larsen, Dawn Vedders, Jared (April) Vedders and Jason (Michelle) Vedders; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Richard) Royce, Joanne (Matt) Ruis, David DeBoer, Eleanor (Dick) Van Eck and Jacob(Bev) DeBoer; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hans in 1990; daughter, Laurie Jean in 1961.
