Funeral services for Marvin L. Knoll, 75, of Rockford, will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1 PM at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Serving as casketbearers will be Russell Knoll, David Knoll, Robert Knoll, Merlene DeVries, Michael Cornelius, and John Warner. Interment will take place at the Forest Hill Cemetery near Milaca. Marvin Leslie Knoll was born September 07, 1936 in Aplington, Iowa. He graduated from Waverly-Shellrock High School. He played trombone in the band. He also served in the National Guard. He was confirmed at the Unity Presbyterian Church. He worked as a coffee broker and real estate agent. He would have homes moved to Mora and fixed them in order to sell. He was a caretaker for condominiums in Minneapolis. On March 15, 1996 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Cornelius. They took in many foster children. In 2009, the couple moved to Rockford. He enjoyed flying and aviation and watching the History Channel. Marvin died at the Annandale Care Center on Sunday, March 18, 2012. Marvin is survived by wife, Marilyn; sons, Greg (Rebecca) Knoll, and Patrick (Eden) Knoll; daughters, Christine Thompson and Sara (Joe) Croft; step sons, Robert (Diane) Cornelius, Alan (Laura) Cornelius, Brian Cornelius, Michael (Jean) Cornelius; step daughters, Bonnie (Larry) Davis, Anjie Cornelius; 14 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell Knoll, David (Linda) Knoll, and Robert Knoll; sister, Merlene (John) De Vries; ; ½ sister, Miriam Canfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Also, a large number of foster children. He is preceded in death by mother, Joyce Westendorf; father, Merland Knoll; sister-in-law, Marilee Knoll; ½ brother, Gaylen; step sons, Joel and Richard Cornelius.
