She was the fifth child of ten sisters and grew up on a dairy farm in Bogus Brook Township, Mille Lacs County. Carolyn attended a country school, Pease Christian School and Milaca High School where she graduated in 1960. Carolyn was united in marriage to Warren Kamstra on May 18, 1962 in Pease, MN. She was active in the Pease Church her entire life. For almost 50 years they made their home on a dairy farm in the Pease area. Carolyn worked at Princeton State Bank until she became a full-time homemaker and farm wife. Warren and Carolyn are blessed with four children who grew up on the dairy farm where they learned to work hard and play together. Warren and Carolyn enjoyed God’s creation by skiing, summer vacations at the lake, traveling and camping with family. Carolyn loved to work in her flower gardens which were accented by many bird houses. She also had great talent for sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking. Carolyn had the gift of hospitality, where the coffee was always on and ready to be served. Her family and everyone in the community enjoyed her home cooking. As children we remember coming home from school to freshly baked sweets and caramel rolls were always a favorite. Carolyn was surrounded by her family in her home when she was taken into glory on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband Warren; children Terri (Bruce) DeVries of Ham Lake, MN and children Matthew, Hannah and Emma, Judy (Brian) Heichert of Andover, MN and children Breanna, Amanda and Sophie, Bruce (Kristin) Kamstra of Kansas City, MO and children Andrew, Elizabeth and Ian and Kathy (Don) Griess of Grafton, NE and children Caitlin, Heidi and Adam; sisters Fran & Dave Maat of CA, Dort & Poncho Jacinto of PA, Joyce & Loren Timmer of Milaca, Jan Godeke of Cross Lake, Julie & Rick Neufeld of TN, Shirley & John Hyre of FL, Linda & Jere Phillips of Prior Lake, and Sandi DeJong of Cambridge; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
