He was united in marriage to Ella Peters on May 24, 1943 in Oak Park, MN. Carl was stationed in Europe as a nurse in World War II. Upon his return, the couple made their home in Milaca, where two children were born. Carl provided for his family as a meat cutter in various grocery stores in the area. In 1956, Carl survived fully from an eleven month stay at a Veterans Hospital where he was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Siemers-Hakes VFW in Milaca. Carl enjoyed the outdoors; he was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his last few years, as age slowed him down, he turned his focus to VFW activities. Carl lived a full and active life right up to his last years. He died on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Heritage House in Milaca. He is survived by son, Jerry (Lindalee) of Ashland, WI; daughter, Judy (Steven) Arrowood of Cambridge; five grandchildren; also by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella in 1995; brothers, Arvid, Edward, Raynold and Nels and sisters, Betty (Ervin “Sammy”) Sammuelson.
