Funeral service for Jim Hanenburg, age 61, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, September 1 at 10:30 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Pastor David Smit officiating. Interment will be at the Pease Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Friday at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Music will be provided by Shelly Ash and Donna Angermeier. Casketbearers will include Jon LeGalley, Andrew LeGalley, Aaron Larsen, Josh Nelson, Shawn Nelson, Derek Brink, Mike Brink, Sam Hasz, Joe Hasz, Seth Hasz, Gregg Pearson and Cody Pearson. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #10794 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #178.
James Andrew Hanenburg was born August 30, 1950 in Princeton, MN to Andrew and Shirley (Jenson) Hanenburg. He grew up in the Milaca area and graduated from Milaca High School. Jim was united in marriage to Brenda Brink on February 14, 1976 in Pease, MN. He served his country in the National Guard. His lifelong passion was owning and operating Hanenburg Trucking, first alongside his father and then independently. The passenger in his truck was always his Bible. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease where he served as a deacon and on the CCS School Board. He was also a past commander of the Milaca American Legion, an active member of the Dutch Hunters Plus and an active member of AA, where he recently received his one year medallion. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, spending time with family and his weekly trips to Koch’s Hardware with his grandkids. He died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at his home near Pease.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Jaime (Jay) Pipkin of Pease and Jacob (Rebecca) Hanenburg of Sartell; grandchildren, Morgan, Lucas and Maddison Pipkin and Reid Hanenburg; sisters, Sue (Tom) LeGalley of Marquette, MI, Nancy (Mike) Larsen of Princeton and Sharon (Marty) Nelson of Milaca; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, James Andrew Jr; his parents and an infant sister.
