Funeral service for Walter Jenson, age 72, of Foreston, will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11 AM at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Dan Clausen officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Santiago. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Monday at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church and 1hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Casketbearers will include Eldon Elwood, Ken Elwood, Brian Jenson, Raymond Henry, Adam Johnson and Rodney Knutson. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Walter Leo Jenson was born May 14, 1940 to Andy and Dorothy Jenson at home in Santiago, MN. He grew up in the Santiago – Foley area and attended a country school and Foley High School. He then joined the Navy and was active for four years.
Walter married Gwen Johnson, of Foreston, on January 20, 1962 at Estes Brook Free Church. They lived in Zimmerman for a short time before settling in rural Foreston for the past 42 years. Walter worked as an operating engineer for the 49ers for 35 years and also ran a small operation on his own.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing and spending time with his family. In the past three years, Walter rededicated his life to Jesus Christ and was ministering to his family and community and walking a life worthy of his calling. He will be greatly missed by all. He passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gwen; daughters, Sheila (Scott) Farkas, Sara (Scott) Warren; sons, Lance (Cindy Knutson) Jenson, Wayne Jenson and Aaron Jenson; grandchildren, Cara (Joel) Clevenger, Loren Farkas, Isabelle Farkas, Jesse Warren, Jordan Warren, Jeff Warren, Paige Jenson, Hunter Jenson and Brady Engelberg; father, Andy Jenson; brothers, Bill (Sandy) Jenson, Curt (Betty) Jenson, Kermit (Chandler) Jenson and Barb (Michael Thomas) Hall; also many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Irene Jenson; brother, Wesley Jenson and nephews, Tony Jenson and Christopher Jenson.
