Lyle Oscar Offerdahl

Memorial service for Lyle Offerdahl, age 72, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11 AM at Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Friday at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Music will be provided by Donna Sahlstrom and Norris Johnson. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 & Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Interment will take place at Washington Prairie Cemetery near Mayville, ND at a later date. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca. Lyle Oscar Offerdahl was born January 4, 1940 in Northwood, ND to Oscar and Lille (Smestad) Offerdahl. He graduated from Mayville High School. After graduation, he served in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Haugen on September 25, 1964 in Sisseton, SD. Lyle worked in road construction for several years, settling with his family in Milaca in 1967. Lyle enjoyed gardening, shooting pool, and spending time with his family. He passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Milaca Elim Home. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn; children, Tom (Diane) Offerdahl of Sartell, Karen (Dustin) Johnson of Chandler, AZ, Dan Offerdahl of Minot, ND and Jerry (Delsie) Offerdahl of Milaca; grandchildren, Daniel Offerdahl, Nicole Offerdahl, Jon Offerdahl, Bailey Offerdahl, Marcus Offerdahl, Jessica Offerdahl and Hailey Johnson; siblings, Gaylor Offerdahl, Darlene Garrett, Roger Offerdahl, David Offerdahl and Margie Devlin; step-siblings, Ron Rotvold, Jan Elkins, Lyle Rotvold, Les Rotvold, and Roger Rotvold; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and step-father, Paul Rotvold.
