Margaret Ida Bauer was born on July 18, 1915 in Foreston to Frank and Ida (Santema) Kunst. At a young age she moved with her family to a farm Northwest of Foreston. She attended Sunnyside School District. In 1938 she was united in marriage to William Bauer in Foreston and they moved to their farm in Granite Ledge Township, where they raised their family. She was a member of the Wildwood School Mother’s Club and the St. Louis Christian Mothers. She grew a large garden and canned large amounts of produce each year for her family. She helped with the farm work with William until he passed away in 1981. She continued to help on the farm with her son Edward until 2009 when she moved to Victoria, MN to live with her daughter, Marge. Margaret died on Saturday Oct. 20th from the results of a car accident in St Louis Park at the age of 97 year 3 months and 2 days.
She is survived by seven daughters, MaryAnn (John) Muller of Park Rapids, MN; Margaret (Roger) Leuthner of Victoria, MN, Anne (Dean) Austad of St. Louis Park, MN, Patricia (Dennis) Johnson of Hamburg, MN, Kathryn (Peter) Johnson of Cloquet, MN, Dolores (Craig) Mattson of Albuquerque, NM, Donna (Larry) Fogelquist of Scotts Valley, CA, six sons, William (Sherry ) Bauer of Park Rapids, MN, Edward (Laura) Bauer of Foreston, Don (Racheli) Bauer of Albuquerque, NM, Henry ( Shirley) Bauer of Burnsville, MN, Harold (Deb) Bauer of Milaca and Robert (Sandy) Bauer of St. Cloud, MN , 43 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren , 3 brothers, Henry (Shirley ) Kunst of Cambridge, MN, Anthony (Mary) Kunst of Ogilvie and Frank Kunst of Milaca and many other relatives and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband William of 43 years, sister Mary and 3 brothers William, Bernard and Robert
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 25 at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Foreston with Fr. James Remmerswaal officiating. Music will be by the church choir and Edie Lesnick. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. And at the church one hour before services.
