Lynn John Saxon

Funeral services for Lynn John Saxon, age 93, will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, November 23, 2012 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Lynn John Saxon was born August 21, 1919 on a farm near Estes Brook, MN to Lewis and Emma (Hamman) Saxon. He attended school in Oak Park, Minnesota. He traveled with his brothers and friends to Leeds, North Dakota to help with harvesting. There, he met and married Anna Marcella Grady in 1942. Together, they had ten children. Marcella passed away in 1962. He then married Grace Russ in 1970 and later divorced. They had two children. He was a member of the National Guard during World War II. In his younger years, Lynn took part in the sport of boxing. He was an avid outdoorsman. He looked forward to deer and pheasant season and also enjoyed local dances and socializing and meeting new people. Lynn worked as a mechanic for several places. In 1959, he purchased a farm north of Milaca, where he raised beef cattle. He lived there until November 2010. Lynn passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012 surrounded by his family at the Saint Benedict’s Senior Community in Saint Cloud. He is survived by daughters, Mary Ann (Ken) Fry of Rosemount, MN, Jo Ann (Hank) Holland of Chesterfield, VA, Lynn (Jeff) Lerfald of Scandia, MN, Caroline (Brian) Grams of Mahtomedi, MN; sons, Dennis (Jean) Saxon of Oak Park and Michael Saxon of Lennox, SD; daughter-in-law, Rachel Saxon of Stanchfield, MN; sister, Caroline Anderson of Foley, MN; brothers, Charles (Pat) Saxon of San Diego, CA and William (Jackie) Saxon of Sheridan, MT; long-time special friend and companion, Jeanette Spychala of Saint Cloud, MN; 37 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Marcella, daughter, Diana Kay; sons, James and Robert, three infant children; sisters, Marietta Mattson, Saddie Theim, and Rachel Saxon; brothers, Robert and David Saxon.
