Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Johnson, age 90, of Milaca, will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Pallbearers will include Jeffrey Peterson, Wilbur Nelson, Jim Vosika, Troy Burklund, Roger Downing, and Alby Pangerl. Music will be provided by Edie Lesnick and the St. Mary's Choir.
Margaret L. Johnson was born June 20, 1922 in Grasston, MN to Edwin and Emma (Surdy) Swanson. She graduated from Grasston High School in 1940. Margaret was united in marriage to Emanuel Pangerl at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City, MN. They moved to Fort Omaha, NE in 1942, where Emanuel was stationed with the Army Signal Corps and Margaret worked as a secretary at the Post Headquarters. While living in Omaha, NE, their daughter, Patricia was born. In 1945, they moved to Braham, MN and their son, Jerome was born there. In 1954, the family moved to Milaca, MN. Emanuel passed away in 1964. Margaret was united in marriage to Roy Johnson in 1967 and he passed away in 1986. Margaret was a secretary at Coca-Cola Bottling in Milaca and was a Mille Lacs County Bailiff for eight years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca, St. Mary’s Guild and a member of the Milaca Legion Auxiliary. She passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Milaca Elim Home. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and encouragement for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Allen) Lillebo of Elk River; son, Jerome (Karen) of Wayzata; three grandchildren, Mark (Maggie Li) Reichle of Las Vegas, NV, Sarah Pangerl (Jeffrey) Hillebrand of Chanhassen and Jonathan (Ashley) Pangerl of Maitland, FL; great-grandchildren, Addison Hildebrand, Jacob Hildebrand, Herbi Li and Kirby Li; brothers, Carl (Adele) Swanson and James (Charlene) Swanson; sister, Jenny Peterson; sisters-in-law, Amelia Wanous, Barbara Goor, Bertha Whiting and Mary Ann Pangerl; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Emanuel and Roy and brother, Earl.
