Mass of Christian Burial for Martha Belford, age 93, of Milaca, will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Martha Theresa Belford was born September 27, 1919 in Mora, MN to Emil and Theresa (Wacek) Kubat. She attended country school for eight years and graduated from Mora High School in 1937. She then started working for Dr. Luiten DDS and Dr. Nordman MD.
She was united in marriage to Howard Belford in 1946. The couple then moved to Madison, Wisconsin. Martha worked at the American Federation of Labor for five years, before returning to Mora in 1955. The couple moved to Milaca in 1961and Martha returned to work at the dental office until 1981.
She belonged to the Minnesota Dental Assistants Association. She also was a member of Saint Mary’s Guild and the Legion Auxiliary.
Martha enjoyed gardening, doing volunteer work, her grandchildren, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Martha passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Milaca Elim Home.
She is survived by her son, Myron (Sue) Belford of Mora; grandchildren, Matthew of Wayzata, Nicholas (Katie) of Saint Michael, and Dana (Steve) Zeman of Otsego; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; sister, Lydia Black; and brothers, Albert and Edward Kubat.
