Edward Joseph Laurent

Funeral service for Edward Laurent, age 90, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Fr. Jim Remmerswaal, OSC officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Serving as casketbearers will be Joe Rollins, Jeremy Rollins, Michael Muscovitz, Chad Rowe, Andy Rowe, and Rob Luckow. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 11 AM on Monday, March 18, 2013. Edward Joseph Laurent was born September 27, 1922 to Edmund and Roseabelle (Berthiaume) Laurent. He was united in marriage to Helen Waschek on September 25, 1943 in Osseo, MN. Ed and Helen lived in many different places over the years including Milaca, Elk River, Coon Rapids, Farmington,and Wisconsin. He worked for dairy farmers and at Minneapolis-Moline and Paul Bunyan’s Bait. While living in Milaca worked as a handyman for Marlyn Wolbert and Paul Reiman. He was a talented woodworker and made potato bins, file cabinets, TV trays, Chinese checker boards and many other gifts for friends and family. He died on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Milaca Elim Home. He is survived by his children, Clyde (Barb) Laurent of Henning, MN, Donna (Charles) Rowe of Browerville, MN, Judy Rollins of Arkansas and Linda (Jim) Dahlin of Brainerd, MN; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Ende of St. Michael, Beverly Laurent of Milaca, Elaine Weir of Spring Lake Park and Sister Mary Edmund of Mankato; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Laurent of Foley; brother-in-law, Chester Kottke of Rogers; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 2006; son, Alphonse Laurent and granddaughter, Janell Rowe; sisters, Ruth Phillips and Arlean Kottke and a great-grandson.
