Norma Ann Meleen, age 70, of Elk River, MN passed away peacefully on April 14, 2013 at the Guardian Angels Care Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Santiago, MN with Pastor Tim Zenda officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Norma was born on January 21st, 1943, to Edward and Grace (Nelson) Stauffeneker in St. Cloud, MN. Norma grew up and was educated in Foley, MN, graduating from Foley High School in 1961. She married James Meleen on July 13, 1962. They made their home in Hudsonville, MI. They were blessed with four children: Martin, Mitchell, Karla and Matthew. She was a stay-at-home mom and later worked as a Nurses Aide at the Hudsonville Christian Nursing Home. Norma enjoyed flower gardening and had a true love of animals and nature. She also loved the company of her family. She was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Jenison, MI. She will be greatly missed by many. Norma is survived by her sons and daughter: Martin (Ellen) of L’Anse, MI, Mitchell (Tamy) of Houston, TX, Karla Boyd (Meleen) of Brainerd, MN, and Matthew Meleen of Austin, TX. Grandchildren: Tara and Derek Meleen. Brothers and sisters: Christian, Gerald, David, Jim, Grace and Karen. Norma was preceded in death by her father, Edward; mother Grace; sister Marjorie; former husband, James; two infant siblings; and nephew, Keith. She is also survived by many living in-laws other relatives, and many friends.
