Gertrude Hirsch was born to Charles and Edna (Crocker) Kort on July 15, 1932 in Pillager, Minnesota. She married Bill Hirsch on September 23, 1993 in Onamia.
She worked many jobs: Cohn Feldman Garment Factory in Onamia, Bemis Bag in Minneapolis, as well as bartending and the Vet’s Club in Onamia for numerous years.
Gert was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She liked doing many things, such as dancing, fishing, playing cards, cooking for her family (she was well known for her potato salad and fried chicken). She also enjoyed going with her husband, Bill, to Texas in the winter. They made many friends there.
Gert passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia at the age of 81 years and 7 days.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of Onamia; two sisters, Carol (Thornly) and Myra; two brothers, Arnold (Irene) and Reuben; two daughters, Kathy (Bob) and Becky (Bob); four sons, Rodney (Mary), Duane (Juli), Robert, and Ronald; step-children, Billy (Amy), Denise (Joe), and LuAnn; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
