Memorial services for Dolores Johnson, age 85, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Inurnment will take place at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton, MN at a later date.
Nellie Dolores Adelaide Johnson was born August 19, 1928 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Olav and Anne (Nesset) Gronskei. She moved with her family to the United States when she was two years old. She attended school in White Rock, SD and Morris Agricultural High School in Morris, MN. She moved to the Milaca area in 1948 and worked at Fingerhut, Ben Franklin, Milaca Hospital and Broberg’s Country Store. She also lived and worked on the family farm for fifty-nine years. Dolores married Lester Ragnar Johnson on June 5, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. Dolores was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca for over sixty years where she taught Sunday school. She loved flowers, birds, the Minnesota Twins, nature and most of all spending time with her family. She died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 after a five year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her children, Marlene (Larry) Kershner of Fort Dodge, IA, Keith (Lori) Johnson of North Branch, MN, Bruce Johnson of Milaca and Lane Johnson of Milaca; grandchildren, Lindsay, Erik, Kelly (John), Meghan, Andrew (Julie), Ryan (Amanda), Caitlin (Brodie) and Cody; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Hailey, Nathaniel, Nathan, Caleb, Soren, Zachary, Hektor, Lukas, Samantha and one due in February 2014; sisters, Gloria Anderson and Rose Ann Gronskei; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; parents, Olav and Anne; brothers, Knute, Olaf and Einar; sister, Hilda Olson and grandson, Christopher Johnson.
