Funeral service for Harvey Malmborg, age 88, of Milaca, formerly of Minneapolis, will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. David Hahn officiating. Interment will follow at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Music will be provided by Jane Marquardsen and Kathy and Mark Mueller. Military honors will be provided by Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 & Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. Casketbearers will include Jeff Mueller, Brian Mueller, Mark Mueller, Max Mueller, Tim Mueller and Todd Hendrickson. Arr. Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
Harvey Linnell Malmborg was born November 28, 1924 Dassel, MN to Harold and Irene (Johnson) Malmborg. He grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High School. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He was united in marriage to Shirley Mueller on November 26, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis and in 1965 they moved to Robbinsdale. Harvey worked for the Minneapolis Water Department until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Local 015 Minneapolis Plumbers Union. After retirement, Harvey and Shirley moved to Milaca. Harvey loved the outdoors and doing gardening and yard work. He loved dogs and enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting. He always looked forward to deer hunting trips at the Jensens, which he did until the age of 80. He still holds the record for the biggest buck. He also enjoyed fishing for big sunnies. Harvey loved spending time with his grandchildren and their three trips to Disney World. Harvey and Shirley enjoyed camping for many years with their camping group around the lakes in the area. He was member of the Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794. He passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Milaca; daughter, Sharon (Ron) Moe of Milaca; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Theisen, Ashley Moe and friend Isak Ware; great-grandchildren, Brock Theisen and Brayden Theisen; also by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Lynn and brother, Willard Malmborg.
