Funeral services for Jens Pederson, age 94, of Onamia, will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia with Rev. Kris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Onamia Area Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Jens Tobias Pederson was born July 18, 1919 to Ole and Ollie (Thompson) Pederson in Cottonwood County, MN. He grew up near Onamia and was confirmed at the Bethany Lutheran Church and attended District 40 Country School. Jens served in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in North Africa and Europe. He was united in marriage to Arlene Mohler on May 20, 1949 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia. Jens and his brother, Martin, farmed together for many years south of Onamia. Jens was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Arlene and Jens were volunteer caretakers for Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Onamia for many years. Arlene and Jens both enjoyed spending time on the CB and the HAM Radio. He passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Mille Lacs Nursing Home.
He is survived by nephews, Mark Seaburg, Michael Seaburg, Don Seaburg and David Seaburg; nieces, Connie Seaburg and Jean Kruetter; sister-in-law, Delores Pederson; and also by relatives from the Windom and Storden area and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene in 1999 and his brother, Martin in 2006.
