Jimmie Lee Hoheisel

December 16, 1951 — June 25, 2014

Jimmie Lee Hoheisel, age 62 of Onamia, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and three kids on Wednesday, June 25th at 11:10 pm after a heroic battle with cancer. Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, June 30th from 3-5pm at the Holy Cross Center in Onamia. A prayer service will follow at 5pm with Father Greg Poser, OSC, officiating. He was born on December 16th, 1951 to Herbert and Marie (Kimmons) Hoheisel in Milaca, MN. He served as a Marine from October 14, 1971 to July 27, 1977, proudly defending his country in Vietnam. Jimmie married his true love, Debra Jean, on July 7th, 2001 on beautiful Lake Superior at Two Harbors. Jimmie touched many people. He unselfishly gave of his time and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His smile lit up a room as his sense of humor was second to none. Jimmie took pride in the love of his wife, his family and friends, and his love of dogs. He passed his love of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors to his nephews and oldest grandson. He took special care to teach anyone who hunted with him how to hunt correctly and what it meant to his family. He was active in AA and sponsored many people. No one can match Jimmie’s flawless ability to listen, and no one possesses a bigger heart. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; stepchildren, Derrick (Rachel) Wersal, Tami (Mike) Pitman and Shannon Wersal; grandchildren, Noah Pitman, Kaleb Pitman and Isaac Pitman; pets, Biscuit, Skipper, Chance, and Sapphire; brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Hoheisel, Linda (Ray) Gruba, Dickie (Cathy) Hoheisel and Gary Hoheisel; nieces and nephews, Chad (Susie) Hoheisel, Charlene Rybak, Doug (Lisa) Gruba, Brian (Kim) Gruba, Herb (Kari) Hoheisel, Brad (Andrea) Hoheisel, Patricia (Adam) Efta, Jesse (Dannielle) Hoheisel and Christina Hoheisel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marie; sister, Patsy and beloved pets, Josh, Charity, Hawk, Jacques, Major, and Angus. Jimmie will always be loved and never forgotten.
