Funeral service for John M. Scott, age 84, of Isle, will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd at 2 PM at the Warman Chapel, 15 miles north of Mora on Highway 65, with Rev. Bruce Thompson and Pastor Steven Nelson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Opstead Baptist Cemetery north of Isle. Arr. John M. Scott was born August 15, 1929 in Ford Township. He served in the US Navy from 1950 – 1954 during the Korean War. John was united in marriage to Dorothy Peterson on August 13, 1955. He worked as a welder in the Twin Cities until 1962 when John and Dorothy purchased a farm in Haybrook Township. John spent the rest of his life dairy farming and raising beef cattle. He loved to hunt deer, make maple syrup, cut wood, ride his 4-wheeler and spend time with his grandchildren. He passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia.
John is survived by wife, Dorothy; son, Rodney Scott of Isle; daughter, Linda Becker of Isle; grandchildren, Jessica, John and Kelly Becker; sister, Millie “Dolly” Smith of Mora; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florence; brothers, Wilmer, Elmer “Bud”, Chet, Charles and George and sister, Vera Gunnarson.
