Toby Henschel

A memorial service celebrating the life of Toby Henschel, age 90, will be held at the Milaca Methodist Church on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. Toby, as she was known to everyone, passed away September 10th at home, surrounded by her family. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Relatives and friends may call one hour prior to services at church on September 15. Toby was born at home, February 12, 1924 in Foreston, Minnesota to Ted and Anna (Heins) Tobias. She graduated from Milaca High School and later married Douglas Henschel on July 12, 1946. Not long after completing beauty college, Toby established her own business, operating a beauty shop first in downtown Milaca, then out of her home. She enjoyed her work for nearly 70 years, retiring just this past March. Toby was an avid gardener and accomplished knitter. She was a dedicated church member, involved in many activities and projects there. She especially enjoyed baking bread and cooking for family and friends. Toby loved fishing and spending time with her grandchildren at the cabin. She was an energetic, youthful spirit. Toby is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Mike) Schoenecker of Sartell and Kay LaRae Henschel of Davis, CA, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Doug, daughter Pamela and sister Louise. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Milaca Scholarship Foundation or the Milaca Methodist Church.
