Lorraine Marilyn Johnson

A celebration of Lorraine Johnson's Life will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11 AM at Milaca United Methodist Church with Pastor Joyce Slostad officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Lorraine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Paul, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca at a later date. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Hall, Eric Carlson, Aaron Carlson and Justin Palmquist. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Milaca American Legion Auxiliary. Lorraine Marilyn Johnson was born February 18, 1925 to Ross Earl and Mayme (Kuhrke) Manary in Princeton, MN, where she spent her childhood. After graduating from Princeton High School, she worked for the Honeywell Corporation in Minneapolis. Lorraine was united in marriage to Paul A. Johnson on May 1, 1946 in a double-ring ceremony with their friends, George and Beryl Cline, at the Wyanette Church, east of Princeton. To this marriage they were blessed with four daughters, Connie, Pat, Laurie and Kaye. While raising her family, Lorraine also worked at the Milaca Garment Factory, East Central Energy and various other jobs. She loved to play cards (bridge being her favorite), playing the slots, golfing and visiting with friends and family. Lorraine and Paul enjoyed many years wintering in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Lorraine was a life member and served as past president of the Hanson-Hayes American Legion Post #178 Auxiliary in Milaca. She was an avid golfer at the Milaca Golf Club and an active member of the Milaca United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Mary-Martha Circle. Lorraine passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Milaca Elim Home. Lorraine is survived by her four daughters, Connie Wilson of Pine Island, FL, Patricia (Dale) Kuether of Foreston, Laurie (Myron) Tinklenberg of Milaca and Kaye (Richard) Palmquist of Sartell; sister, Cheryl (Steve) Mann of Anoka; brother, Robert (Jan) Manary of Deerwood; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Britz of Lindstrom; also by many other relatives and friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; father, Ross Earl and step-mother, Louise Manary; mother, Mayme and step-father, Alec Vernon; sister, Maxine Olson and son-in-law, John Wilson.
