Ellen M. Nelson

Funeral services for Ellen (Mattson) Nelson, age 100, of Sartell, formerly of Milaca, will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca and also one hour prior to services at the church. Ellen Marie Nelson was born January 21, 1915 to Oktor and Mary Mattson in Milaca, MN. She attended school in Milaca, where she graduated. Ellen married Chester Nelson and together they had six children, which she raised in Milaca. Later Ellen moved to Rice, MN and eventually to the Country Manor Nursing Home in Sartell, MN where she spent the last years of her life when her arthritis took over her. Ellen spent the majority of her life raising her children and also worked for Lyndale Cleaners, Fingerhut and Goreckis. She loved to have her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around. The grandkids and great grandkids called her Big G. Ellen always had a smile on her face and she had a mind as sharp as a tack. She passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Country Manor Nursing Home in Sartell. Ellen is survived by her children, Gary (Georgia) Nelson of Milaca, Michael Nelson of Sartell, Ann (Maurice) Anding of Coeur D’Alene, ID, Jane Meland of Richfield, Mary (Mel) Preusser of Sartell, Brad (friend Brenda) Nelson of Rice; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; husband, Chester and son-in-law, Dennis Meland.
