Memorial services for Roger Sanford, age 76, of Milaca, formerly of Princeton, will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 AM at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Rev. Michael Ten Haken officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM Friday at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place at Pease Cemetery at a later date.
Roger Elwood Sanford was born October 30, 1938 to Elwood “Rex” and Hilma (Fall) Sanford in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Princeton High School and attended Dunwoody Institute for two years. Roger was united in marriage to Barbara Kiel on September 29, 1967 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. They made their home in the Princeton and Milaca area. Roger worked for various auto body repair shops and later retired from American Family Insurance after fifteen years. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. Roger enjoyed family vacations, auto body, antiques and woodworking. His passions were his family, bowling, coffee with his friends and feeding fish in his pond. He passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; daughter, Darcy (Rick) Johnson of Milaca; sons, Jason (Michelle) Sanford of Princeton and Jeff Sanford of Milaca; grandchildren, Tim (Brittany) Kuehn, Trevor Kuehn, Corey Kuehn and Ashlee Johnson; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Charli and Landon; sisters, Arlene Arthur of Princeton and Shirley (Bob) Anderson of Zimmerman; also by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
