Funeral services for Ruth Carlson, age 89, of Milaca, will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11 AM at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Dan Clausen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will take place in the Wendell Hill Cemetery near Milaca.
Ruth passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Milaca Elim Home.
Ruth Ann Carlson was born March 16, 1925 to Oscar (O.E.) and Inga (Grudt) Carlson in Bock, Minnesota.
Ruth attended grade school in Bock and graduated from Milaca High School in 1943. She attended the Princeton Teacher Training School in 1944, and later graduated from Saint Cloud College. She taught for ten years in rural Mille Lacs County schools and for thirty-three years as a first grade teacher in Ogilvie.
Ruth was a member of the Bock Free Church and later a member of the Milaca Evangelical Free Church. She was active in teaching Sunday school and Women’s Missionary Society.
Ruth enjoyed taking trips and her travels took her to all states except Hawaii. She also enjoyed a European tour including a heritage visit to Scandinavia.
She is survived by her brother, Donald (Norma) Carlson of Spring Park; ten nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sister-in-laws, John (Edith) and Oscar (Lois); and sister and brother-in-law Margaret (Laverne) Johnson.
