Robert G. LinDell, 62, Fergus Falls, and formerly of Buffalo, died Friday Dec. 5, 2008, peacefully in his sleep at home after a long battle with COPD.
Visitation will be held at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at Estes Brook Free Church in Oak Park.
Robert was born September 20, 1946 in St. Cloud to Leonard and Vivian (Brastad) Lindell. He grew up on a farm near Oak Park, went to country school through grade 8, and graduated from Milaca High School in 1964.
On July 17, 1969, Robert married Nadine (Deana) Forss. They settled in Buffalo in 1976, where he owned and worked for All-Ways Insulation. In 1995, Robert returned to school for computer programming. He worked at Fingerhut as a computer programmer until his retirement in 2000. Robert lived on the island of Abaco in the Bahamas until 2003, where he helped develop the local school’s computer department and instructed the school’s computer classes.
Robert was an avid phone collector and restorer. Part of his large collection can be seen at Lakedale Phone Company in Annandale.
Robert is survived by his special friend Kathy Armstrong of Fergus Falls; daughter Lisa (Brett) Lowrey of Gainesville, GA; son Bob (Stacy) of Monticello; mother, Vivian Lindell-Gaylor of Princeton; brothers Don (Jane) of Buffalo and, Dennis (Deana) of Fairbault; three grandchildren; and ex-wife Deana.
He was preceded in death by his father Leonard (1989); and siblings Lorna Lou (1956), Ben (1981), David (1987), and Linda Lindell Olson (2006).
