Eileen D. McBroom

Funeral services for Eileen McBroom, age 91, of Milaca, will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Stephen Blenkush officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Eileen D. McBroom was born on January 24, 1924, to Anton and Lydia Nielsen. She lived in Foreston and Milaca for eighty-nine of her ninety-one years. The last two years she lived with her daughter, Susan, in Cottage Grove, MN. Eileen graduated from Milaca High School. She married Harris McBroom on October 20, 1944, and together they raised their three children. During those years Eileen worked for Drs. Donald and Douglas Bye. Zion Lutheran Church of Milaca was her long-time church where she was very involved through the years. She was a member of the Eunice circle, served on the church board, sang in the church choir, and was the superintendent for Sunday school for many years. Outside of church, Eileen enjoyed being involved in the Current Events Club, many town events, reading, writing and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers (Nels, Albert, Harry and Lester), one sister (Edith) and her husband of 35 years, Harris McBroom. She is survived by her children, David and Pam McBroom of Estero, FL, Cathy and Bill Glenz of Wahkon, MN, Susan and Mike Morin of Cottage Grove, MN, six grandsons (Adam, Isaac, Emmett, Andrew, Zachary and Cody) and six great-grandchildren (Maddy, Will, Gavin, Cullen, Kayda and Micah). Eileen died peacefully on the evening of March 2nd, surrounded by family. She will truly be missed.
