Arnelda Otten

Mass of Christian Burial for Arnelda Otten, age 99, of Milaca, formerly of Foreston, will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1 PM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Foreston. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Foreston. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arnelda Magdalen Otten was born August 30, 1915 in Foreston, Minnesota to James and Sarah (Shadiow) Hunter. She was united in marriage to Jack Otten on May 20, 1936 at Saint Louis Catholic Church. Arnelda had a Foreston address for 93 years, moving to Milaca in 2008. Arnelda was a homemaker her entire life, and to her family she was a spiritual director, nurse, cook, teacher, warden, seamstress, and gardener. She was an active and lifetime member of Saint Louis Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s Club, and the mission group. She was also involved in the PTA in country school. She enjoyed walking, picking four-leaf clovers, playing cards, doing puzzles, going for rides, and ice cream cones. Arnelda passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at her residence in Milaca, surrounded by her children. She is survived by children, Janice (Len) Hallin Nelson of Backus, Carol (Don) Mueller of Foreston, Robert (Sandra) Otten of Andover, Joan (Tony) Beckrich of Mora, Sharon (Gordy) Wolfe of Oak Park, Diane Sproessig of Milaca, Jim (Mary Jo) Otten of Baudette, Nancy (Lester) Fradette of Northome, John (Deb) Otten of Foreston, Cathy (Denny) Gaffer of Crystal, Mary (Tim) Owens of Princeton, Norma (Mark) Bruflodt of Milaca, and Ruth (Jim) Struffert of Burnsville; 58 grandchildren; 86 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Arnelda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack, infant son, Richard, granddaughter, Elaine Hallin, great-grandson, Jacob Reiland, sons-in-law, Bill Tabbert and Mel Hallin, brothers and sisters, Vina, Beatrice, Edna, Roy, Lee, Harold, Floyd, Agnes, Myrtle, and Mabel.
