Funeral services for Roger Eisen, age 90, of Milaca, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11 AM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Assembly #5.
Roger Vernon Eisen was born May 24, 1924 to William and Mathilda (Domrose) Eisen in Dodge Center, Minnesota. He graduated from Medford High in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed to the South Pacific during World War II. He served in the USMC for over three years.
He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Marsolek on October 26, 1948 in Rochester, MN. Roger and Mary Lou made their home in Owatonna for a few years before moving to Milaca. They had two children; David Eisen and Cynthia Eisen (Madsen).
Roger ran Roger's Pure Oil business then ran Eisen's Bus Service driving the children of Milaca schools. He was a member of Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 and Siemers-Hakes VFW Post #10794 in Milaca. He was a Minnesota Volunteer Firearms Safety Instructor for over 50 years and was awarded the Minnesota Volunteer Firearms Safety Instructor of the Year in 2000.
Roger enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, pheasant hunting, gardening, driving school bus and the Minnesota Vikings. He was very proud to be a Marine veteran.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Brianne Eisen of White Bear Lake, Tamara (Rusty) Davis of Maplewood, and Daniel Eisen of Oakdale; one great-granddaughter, Sawyer Davis; sister, Jeanette of Owatonna; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Cynthia Madsen; son-in-law, Dale Madsen, and son, David Eisen; brothers, Raymond, Edmund, and Harold; sisters, Violet and Ramona.
