Edythe Margaret Robinson

September 3, 1908 — January 4, 2009

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11 AM at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Edythe Margaret Robinson died Jan. 4 at the Marantha Care Center in Brooklyn Center. She was born on Sept. 3, 1908 to Emil and Margaret (Nilson) Lundstrom in Granite Ledge Township. She spent her early years on the home farm near Foreston and later worked in Minneapolis. There, she completed her high school education and took business courses. Edythe worked for Fanny Farmer in Minneapolis, Milwaukee and later in Detroit, Mich. She set up the display windows in Fanny Farmer stores and hired and trained employees during her 18 years with them. She was also employed by Hudson’s in Detroit for 22 years selling better dresses in the Oval Room. Edythe married Wilbur Robinson on Dec. 27, 1941 in Fort Worth, Tex. The couple resided in Detroit, Mich. where Wilbur was on the staff at Temple Baptist Church. During their 30 years of marriage, Edythe and her husband were involved in Christian work at Temple Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and wanted everyone to experience that joy. Wilbur passed away in December 1970. In 1976, Edythe moved to Minneapolis to be near her siblings and other relatives. She spent several years helping many of them before they went to their heavenly home. Edythe was fun-loving, energetic and always ready to lend a helping hand. Her neices and nephews were always anxious for her summer visits as she brought many gifts, especially Fanny Famer candy. She always had some interesting stories to tell and often a good joke. On our visits to Detroit, she took us to see many interesting places. She made our visits a lot of fun. Edythe resided in Fridley and loved her home and the area. She kept an immaculate house and loved to garden and plant her many flowers. She also loved to bake and cook and enjoyed entertaining relatives and friends. She made the best coffee. In May of 2002, because of macular degeneration, she could no longer live alone. Edythe moved to the Prairie Lodge assisted living area at the Earle Brown Center in Brooklyn Center. This was a difficult transition but she made the best of it with the help of her nieces and nephews. In December 2005, Edythe moved to Marantha Care Center as she needed more care due to failing health. She celebrated her 100th birthday on Sept. 3, 2008 with close relatives and friends. It was a special day for all of us. She is survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
