Funeral services for Audrey Carlson, age 88, will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Milaca Alliance Church with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 from 4 – 7 PM at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Borgholm Cemetery near Bock.
Audrey Anne Carlson was born July 13, 1926 to Frank and Anna (Borg) Anderson at home in Bogus Brook Township, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota. She graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1945. She worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis after graduation.
Audrey married Archie W. Carlson on January 18, 1947. They lived in the Bogus Brook, South Fork, and Riverside areas before moving to Bock in 1953.
Audrey attended the American Sunday School Union as a child. She subsequently became a member of the Bock Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Women’s Missionary Society. In her latter years, she attended the Milaca Evangelical Free Church and the Milaca Alliance Church.
She was active in the Bock Garden Club and lived in the Bock area until 1993, when she moved to Milaca. Audrey worked at Milaca Mills for many years then at Olson’s Super Valu in Milaca until her retirement.
Audrey enjoyed quilting, knitting, and making her own clothing. Each of her children and grandchildren received at least one of these quilts, knitted afghans or baby blankets. She also made many quilts and knit baby blankets for people in need.
Audrey passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Mora.
She is survived by her children, Rosalie (Dale) Peterson of Sapulpa, OK, Alan (Jane) Carlson of Milaca, and Chris (Pat) Carlson of Bock; six grandchildren, Amitia (Alex) Claussen of Bartlesville, OK, Camille (Tim) Teale of Sapulpa, OK, Rachel (Cliff) Chiles of Norman, OK, Nathan (Angela) Carlson of Elk River, Aaron (Katie) Carlson of Horace, ND, and Emily Carlson of Milaca; eleven great-grandchildren, Abigail and Kathleen Claussen, Victoria, Natalia, and Maricela Teale, Makayla, Anna, and David Carlson, and Austin, Benjamin, and Cody Carlson; brothers, Erwin (Phyllis) Anderson of Hemet, CA and Lyle (Violet) Anderson of Ogilvie; brother-in-law, John (Leona) Carlson of Mora, sisters-in-law, Pearl Carland of Maple Grove, Shirley (Henry) Carlson-Kunst of Milaca and Vivian Buffington of Foley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie; two sisters, Mildred (Lester) Lundberg and Helen (Frank) Iler; two nieces, Harriet Klofstad and Norma Erickson; and great nephew, Jeffrey Klofstad.
